Every day during Advent 2015 we’ll feature a different South West artist. We’ve framed, printed or exhibited the artists featured in Advent Artists.
5th December: Emily Furnell
Emily is a recent graduate of Bath Spa University. She is interested in transience, time and decay. Emily submerges metal sculptures in chemical solutions and runs an electric current through the metal to corrode it and promote a fast decay. Each experiment generates unique results that cannot be foreseen, and the process and its product cannot be replicated. Emily records the process of this decay in film, observing the build-up of crystal salts and the effect of the experiment on the submerged object.

Emily has won various awards, including the Kenneth Armitage Young Sculptor Award, the Porthleven Prize 2014, and the Signature Art Prize. Her work has been exhibited widely; currently we have a large collection of Emily’s small sculptures at Mount Art, all available to buy.

So pop into Mount and have a look at this stunning work.
